I have a special interest in grief and loss counselling - including for pet owners who experience disenfranchised grief, i.e. grief that is not recognised or validated by society.
People usually think of death when they hear the word "grief" or "loss" but the reality is we experience many losses throughout our lifetime and we grieve at many different times in our lives. Also, remember, loss is individually perceived; what one person may consider a loss others may not. It's important you can acknowledge what loss is for you.
Below are just a few reasons you may be experiencing grief and loss...
· Death of a loved one
· Death of a pet
· Divorce/separation
· Illness or injury
· Childhood trauma/traumatic events or events
- Lack of purpose or meaning
· Life regrets
· Unresolved conflict
