The main reason people seek counselling for grief and loss is due to the death of a loved one. I have a passion to normalise grief and loss. I believe society still has such a long way to go when it comes to helping grieving people. You might be graced with a couple of weeks to "get over" your grief. In reality, we grieve for a lifetime but the nature of our grief changes.
I find demystifying the emotion of grief helps clients immensely. It can seem like such a BIG and OVERWHELMING emotion but in reality it is an emotion like any other that needs to be given attention, understanding and respect.
