Anxiety works like this. We become anxious for whatever reason and then we become anxious about being anxious! It's like being on a merry-go-round you don't recall buying a ticket for.
There are many reasons for anxiety and I don't believe in a one-size fits all approach. Sure, there are some general techniques that seem to help the majority of clients which is awesome. There are also usually underlying reasons for anxiety which I like to look at as well, if that's what you would like.
I take a Compassion-Focused approach when working with clients, regardless of the issue. I feel this is particularly important with anxiety as people tend to judge themselves harshly for experiencing it.
